Tips on Building Backyard Chicken Coops

Chickens are domestic birds that are usually found on farms, although the recent trend is towards constructing backyard chicken coops in cities as well as rural areas. Some farmers allow their chickens to roam around all day, and are referred to as free range chickens. With space being an issue for many folks, runs can be built for your chickens to exercise and get sunshine, both of which are important to the health and well being of your chickens.

Another current trend, although not one that a lot of people agree with, is raising thousand of chickens on factory farms. Chickens living in these conditions are often lacking fresh air and sunshine, and spend their entire lives in cramped pens with little ventilation. That is something to consider when deciding where your chickens and eggs are coming from.

If you are thinking of raising backyard chickens, there are a couple of ways to approach it.
